Visiting Lectureship of the Theory of Architecture
Dr. Torsten Lange
Main Areas of Research

Within the broader field of modern architectural theory (19th and 20th centuries) our focus is on art and architecture in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as East Asia, Japan in particular. Individual staff members’ research interests include, among others: interactions between architecture and the sciences; architecture’s theoretical return to earlier periods; performance and (the critique of) representation in art and architecture; architecture and political economy, as well as theories of production of space, labour, role models and materiality; architecture and semiotics; environment, activism and media critique since the 1960s; and mechanisms of globalisation with a focus on potentials and limits of interdisciplinary transcultural perspectives.
